Cats and boxes: never has there been a better match since peanut butter and jelly. They just go together, right? Anyone who knows the feline mind can attest to the magnetic power of the box, no matter the shape or size. Although we’re quite aware of this love affair, what’s the reason for it? Why do cats like boxes?
Seeking out confined spaces is instinctual behavior in cats. In the wild, it allows them to hide and stalk prey. We don’t often get to see cats exhibit this behavior in the great outdoors, but they still look for ways to replicate this behavior inside our homes. This is where the box comes in.
Some also note that the security of a box could mimic the snuggly warmth a kitten feels while cuddling her mother and littermates. As a result, it’s possible, that while box-sitting, a cat’s body releases endorphins that cause pleasure and reduce stress.

.
Cat Fact 4: A cat can be either right-pawed or left-pawed.

♦︎ Why cats yawn? ♦︎ -
-
♦︎ Cats (and humans) may yawn because they need to expel excess carbon dioxide. Too much CO2 means your body is craving more oxygen -- a problem that’s easily remedied by taking a big, deep yawn. -
-
♦︎Some experts speculate that felines often yawn as a means to communicate.
Yawning could keep cats from nodding off. When a feline starts to feel sleepy, she may yawn to take in more oxygen, signaling her brain to stay alert. -
-
♦︎ Just like a room full of students struggling to pay attention during a sleep-inducing lecture, cats may yawn because of a simple, no-explanation-needed fact: They’re bored!
🖤 One human’s garbage is one cat’s treasure, apparently. Some cats can’t seem to get enough of plastic bags. But why? Pet Behavior Expert Mychelle Blake explains that it’s not the bag that some cats love – it’s the smell that remains on the bag. - 🖤 Cats have a powerful sense of smell, and are big fans of “people food” (whether they should have it or not). We bring home all our yummy groceries, and when we take them out of the plastic bags and put them away, they leave their cat-tempting scents behind. If you see your cat licking or chewing your grocery bags, it may be the scent that they’re after. - 🖤 Mychelle Blake also points out your cat’s bag-chewing may be a sign of a dental or medical issue. If your cat isn’t getting enough nutrition from her food, she may try to eat non-food items, like plastic bags. A trip to the vet can determine if a nutritional deficiency or dental issue may be the reason she wants to eat your bags. - 🖤 Some cats may just enjoy playing with plastic bags because they’re fun and make a cool crinkly noise. However, plastic bags aren’t a toy, and although it’s cute when your cat pounces on the bags and chases after them, they can be dangerous. Your cat should have toys of his own, meant for safe play and enrichment.
Cats are notorious for their appreciation of the finer lounging places in life, but despite their reputation for snoozing, they also enjoy the opportunity to stretch their legs and get some exercise on a daily basis. -
-
⚡︎ ⚡︎ Get Your Cat Moving ⚡︎ ⚡︎ -
-
Cats that have access to the outdoors are more likely to stay fit by hunting, climbing and investigating, but the dangers inherent in allowing cats to roam offset those advantages in most situations. If your cat lives indoors, you need to take on the role of coach in encouraging him to get moving. An assistant coach, in the form of another cat, is one of the easiest ways to get your cat playing and moving. But you can also encourage movement by providing a cat tree and a variety of climbing and perching posts, as well as scratching posts.
-
- ⚡︎ ⚡︎ One good way to exercise your cat is to take him for a walk. The safest way to do this is by walking him on a cat harness. It's much easier to teach a kitten to walk on a harness than it is an adult cat, but it can be done. You may need to lure him along a step at a time at first, rewarding him with a treat for following you. Once he gets the hang of it, be sure to only walk him in safe places where loose dogs can't come after him. And don't forget to administer flea, tick and heartworm prevention. -
- ⚡︎ ⚡︎ Exercise is important for your cat, not only to keep him fit and trim, but also because he needs mental stimulation. Cats, especially young cats, that are left alone all day with nothing to do can create their own games, which may not be healthy for your household belongings. Even though cat videos are available that many cats find amusing, many more cats are bored and would welcome the diversion of getting some exercise. A well-exercised cat is more likely to be a contented cat.
Sugar & Spice love to sleep with us in the bed. The most favourite place is the lap of my husband.
Where are your cats sleeping? Do you allow them sleep with you? -
-
♡♡♡ -
Cats are very vulnerable when they are sleeping and like to find a place, or person, that they trust to sleep on. When they sleep with their owner they are confirming to you that they trust you.
While your cat does trust you they also want to keep warm and they love the heat from their humans. They also love your duvet and blanket that provide extra warmth. Your cat loves that you are a human hot water bottle for them.
There is no doubt that your cat loves you and wants to spend time with you, but they also want to tell you they love you by spending time with you. Cats don’t like to be alone – despite what people think about cats being independent. ♡♡♡
Our furry friends need to play so it is important that you provide an appropriate outlet for play either by playing interactive games or by providing suitable toys. Playing with your cat regularly will teach you about your cat’s personality and strengthen the bond and trust between you.
♦︎Why play?♦︎
Play assists young kittens’ physical development and coordination. By playing with their siblings they also improve and refine their social and communication skills. As kittens grow older their play changes and by the time they are 14 weeks old their play is mainly directed towards objects, which they stalk, pounce on, bat, grasp and bite. These are the skills they need for hunting. Play provides an outlet for your cat’s predatory instincts and also relieves boredom, prevents behaviour problems and provides exercise which reduces weight gain and future health problems. This is especially important for cats without access outdoors.
♦︎Toys♦︎
There are many toys available from pet stores including fishing rod type toys, balls and artificial mice. Whatever you use, make sure it is suitable for your cat – avoid items with small attachments that could break off and be swallowed.
♦︎What do cats like to play with?♦︎
Cats like movement so the toy must be one that can move in rapid and unpredictable ways, just like a mouse or bird.
You can increase the interest your cat shows in a toy by rubbing the toy in catnip About 50 per cent of cats will respond to the active but harmless chemical in this herb, by miaowing and rolling.
♦︎Interactive games♦︎
Different cats will prefer different types of games, but don’t play rough and tumble games or tease your cat by moving your fingers or feet under duvets and rugs.
A few short daily sessions are better than one long session as this mimics the normal activity patterns of your cat.
♦︎Remember:♦︎
Play for a few short sessions every day.At the end of each session tidy away toys with string, or anything that might present a danger to your cat.Never force your cat to play or be trained
♦︎Have fun!♦︎

Today is important day ...we will be neutered ♡
What are benefits of neutering? ... -
- ☞ Neutering reduces cats chance of catching feline immunodeficiency virus (FIV), an incurable disease similar to HIV in humans which is spread by saliva usually from bite wounds during fights. -
- ☞ Unneutered cats that are confined can become frustrated and may try any escape route – including out of your top floor window. -
- ☞ Neutering cats reduces their urge to roam and fight so they’re less likely to go missing, get hit by cars, or get hurt. -
-
☝︎Myths surrounding cat neuters: -
- ☞ It’s too expensive – the old saying, “You get what you pay for” applies. The cost of neutering will vary between 70£ to 100£ You’re paying for a complete head-to-toe examination by your veterinarian, including thorough review of medical history, a dedicated nurse, anesthetic drugs tailored to your pets needs, state of the art monitoring equipment, pain medication, and after care. It should also be noted that a quick and simple neuter procedure costs far less than the associated risks of having an intact male (as stated above). -
- ☞ It will change my cat’s personality or make him less manly – Your dog or cat will not go through an identity crisis once he’s neutered. Neutering will not change a pet’s basic personality, nor will he suffer any kind of emotional reaction from the procedure. Your pet will also maintain its instincts to protect its home and family. Personality is formed more by genetics and environment than hormones.
-
- ☞ It will make him fat – neutering your pet may cause their metabolism to slow down a bit, but switching them to an adult food at the proper time, feeding exclusively canned, portion control, and regular exercise will prevent overweight cats and obesity.
